The sun is shining finally, and there is talk of another bike ride this afternoon. Yesterday, in the two rain free hours that we had, we took the bikes to Hellyer Park and rode Coyote Creek Trail.
It was Brians first time on the trail, and I hadn't been there for awhile, so I really enjoyed our ride.
Bundled up against the cold and rain, it's amazing what you can piece together to keep you warm.
I couldn't find my thin skull cap that goes under my helmet, so I used a plastic bag. It kept my head warm, and dry on the outside anyway. I suppose that's one good use for those pesky plastic bags. I also have long ski socks on. I bought them for Yosemite, but they have done a good job keeping my feet warm and dry these past couple of days.
Even our bikes were dressed for the rainy weather. Brian put the goofiest back fender on the Nomad.
I don't mind overcast days. The grey skies, and muted colors remind of Kansas winters.
Everything seems dull, but if you look you can always find a spot of color somewhere.
Also just like Kansas, horses by the roadside. Mr. Horse was only interested in me long enough to find out that I didn't have any treats. I don't think he would have enjoyed the gu in my pocket.
And very unlike Kansas, pelicans at the end of the ride.
We rode 16 miles, saw pelicans, woodpeckers, horses and a water skier (brr!) and made it back to the car by the time it started to rain.
