Go Speed Racer, Go!

This time last year I was all about Wildflower. I was obsessed with Wildflower; the swim, the bike, the run; could I do it, should I do it? This year it's the Sea Otter Classic. That 19 mile cross country bike race is looming bigger in my mind than the 6 miles of running I was worried about last year at Wildflower.

At any rate, it seems odd not to be training for triathlon. It catches me off guard when people ask how triathlon is going. Triathlon? Oh yeah. I guess I'm going to do a few of those too, whne I get around to it. Judith and Elaine are biking and swimming and running. Me? I'm riding my mountain bike. However, I think riding 20 miles cross country on the mountain bike will more than prepare me for Wildflower. I'm still swimming in the mornings, and I'll start running again in March. So I am training, just in a round about way.

So my tentative race schedule:

Mountain Bike Challenge #3-March
Sea Otter Classic-April
Wildflower-May
Muddy Buddy-June
SJIT-June
Cougar Mountain Classic-July
Santa Cruz Mermaid-September

That's how it stands for the moment. My goal is to race downhill or the mountain cross at the Cougar Mountain Classic. If I could race downhill and do it well, that would be my biggest achievement of the season.

But see? Aren't you asking yourself now-maybe I should be mountain biking instead of swimming and running? ;)
It'll happen-all in good time. I'll be at Wildflower, no worries.
