Moonlight Run

Friday night I did my first ever running race. I ran 6 miles with my friends for the Palo Alto Moonlight Run. My start time was at 8:30 and we ran along the bay in Shoreline under the moon. I've always wanted to run in the dark, so it was quite an adventure. My leg ached a little bit (dumb hamstring!) but I managed 6 miles without too much pain. It was a nice steady pace, with great company. Elaine and I ran and chatted, so the miles went by quickly.

Kurt ran also; his first race ever! And I was such a bad wife, I forgot to register him. I guess I was thinking of the last two races I registered him for and he didn't do. So this time I must have been waiting to make sure he was really going to do it, and I forgot to register him all together! No matter, he got a number, and a tshirt, and he did three miles. I don't think it inspired him to do it again, even though he liked the food afterwards.

And the food was good! I had gone straight from work to the race, so I hadn't eaten dinner beforehand. Lucky for me they had tables of coffee cake, and bagels with cream cheese for the runners afterwards. I made a pig out of myself!

I'll definitley do it again next year. And who knows-maybe Kurt will run the 6 miles with me!

After the race-I'm always smiling after I run!
From left to right: There's me in my pink "bike like a girl" hat even though I was running, Esther from church who was the smart one and walked instead of tortured herself with a run, Sara; who is in training for the Monterey Half Marathon, Elaine my tri training buddy and good friend and her guy Wes.

Next up: Nike Womens Half Marathon on Sunday! Whooohoooooooo!
