My physical therapist told me today I wasn't like a normal person. The fact that I have a physical therapist instead of a doctor probably lends credibility to that statement. I've probably have had more ultrasound done on my leg than a pregnant women has done in nine months of pregnancy.
I'm on the injured list again. Restricted to light exercise "like a NORMAL person" my PT has to clarify. I don't think it's all that abnormal to do a triathlon, 2 cyclocross races, a running race, and a half marathon in one month, is it? A little obsessive perhaps, but not too over the top. Anyway, my hamstring is bothering me. So I have to rest and let it heal. Rest is a four letter word. Along with pool; which is what I'm stuck swimming laps in as I "rest" and "heal".
So in honor of my PT session today here is my list of
TOP TEN SCRAPES, BRUISES and other OWIES:
10: Tore a calf muscle running.
9: Banged my foot and nose against the bottom of the pool trying to do a flip turn at the wall while waiting to recover from calf injury.
8: My first fall off my road bike because I didn't unclip in time. A nice black bruise below my left knee. Again waiting to recover from calf injury. Who knew healing could be so dangerous?
7: My very first bruise from falling off my mountain bike. I braked too hard going downhill in the gravel and ended up with 2 spectacular bruises on my right leg. HUGE nest eggs. Quite impressive.
6: Bloody scrape on the palms of my hands from above fall, elicits a sworn promise to NEVER ride gloveless again.
5: Another fall off my mountain bike left me with a gorgeous blue, and red bruise on my left hip AND a bruise on the shin of my right leg.
4: More scraps on my hands from mountain biking. Forgot the d*mn gloves.
3: Pulled my hamstring slightly making all those people out there who say to stretch and cross train to avoid injuries liars! Or maybe mountain biking isn't the appropriate cross training activity for running. Kind of like pairing up sky diving with motorcycle racing.
2: PT appointment for my calf. Physical therapists are brutal.
1: Todays PT appointment. I think this is going to top them all. I'm going to have a huge continious bruise from my knee up to my hip. It's going to match the one on my left hip nicely.
