My parents are visiting this week. It's been a good visit. They like to shop a lot. I do too, but only at places like Sport Basement and REI. Other places like downtown Saratoga and Los Gatos, not so much. We went to a lot of little shops, the kind of shops that smell very strongly of potpourri.
We went to Villa Montalvo and tried to find the gardens. All I found was the parking lot. I'm sure I must have missed something obvious. It was a nice parking lot, but really not worth the drive. There is suppose to be an arboretum there, but I couldn't find it. Too many trees in the the way. I couldn't see the trees for the forest, I guess.
We went to Carmel and my dad went into every single Thomas Kincade gallery there. Every single one. I was not a big fan of Thomas Kincade paintings before the new girl at work printed out an article from the Los Angeles Times that said he pee'd on a statue of Winnie the Pooh at Disneyland. Now I'm really not a fan. Pee'd on Pooh. Yuck.
We also saw the lights in Vasona Park. The dinosaurs really roar. That was cool. Christmas dinosaurs. Like, what if Santa had a T Rex pulling his sleigh instead of Rudolph? I'd bet the other dinosaurs would fall in line and there would be none of this "playing dinosaur games without the T Rex" business.
Of course it would ruin the song.
I put up my Christmas tree. It's beautiful because I put tons of lights on the tree. It took me an hour and 7 strands of 150 lights to get to the top. I am the Martha Stewart of Christmas tree lights. That's probably not a good thing.
I put up the ornaments next. That was fun. I'm thankful I have new happy memories to put on the tree. Speaking of which, I am in serious bmx boy withdrawal this week. I hate to get all "Princess Diaries", but I miss my boyfriend!!!!! And yes, I really do need five exclamation points to express my angst.
Oh and hey! I signed up to do the Vineman Half Ironman in July. Just in case anyone wants to do it with me...
