The day started off early in my spotlessly clean apartment with a cup of tea in bed, browsing the newspaper, delivered oh so quietly to my doorstep by my concientious newspaper delivery boy.
After finishing all the comics and carefully cutting out the coupons for thrifty and responsible shopping, I sprang from bed, light of feet, feeling bright eyed and bushytailed and full of energy.
Pulling on my clean, coordinated and oh so cute mountain biking clothes which are the perfect blend of hard core serious mountain biker, and cute, flirty girl; I grabbed my mountain bike and headed for the trail before sunrise, so I could greet the day on top of the mountain as the sun rose and give thanks for all the wonderful things in my life.
Riding down the singletrack was effortless; I was poetry in motion, hardly pausing for breath as I climbed steadily towards the rising sun. I finished an epic 20 mile ride, all before breakfast.
Later that afternoon, I pulled together the perfect Thanksgiving day vegan feast, everything natural, and organic and cooked in a real oven; not a single microwatt used. Dinner was served with chilled glasses of champagne, as my boyfriend and I had a long heart to heart discussion about what we could do to change the world.
The day ended in quiet reflection by the fire place, a glass of wine and purring cat.
NOT.
I rode a total of 23 minutes today, 20 of which was spent pushing my bike uphill. The boyfriend and I had one of those out of sync days; when I was up, he was down and vice versa. There is no hope for the apartment except perhaps a wrecking ball or a torch. My riding clothes are either a) dirty b) make me look fat or c) both. And I totally lost it on the trail and cried like a ninny.
What a day.
Got home from riding, and the power was out. Had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for Thanksgiving dinner in the dark.
It wasn't the worst day ever, it was just one of those days when I kept thinking it was finally going to get better, but it never did.
Probably better to call it even and head for bed...even though it's only 7:30pm. It'll be a bettter day tomorrow. That's something to be thankful for.

It's sounds a lot like Spongebob's best day ever. Next time call me!
Wow. You really had me going there...I was even thinking I should incorporate champagne into my Thanksgiving traditions. Although I must admit I was quite shocked by the 20 mile bike ride....;)
