But it's cool to see. That was the best camp; so much fun and I learned a lot too!
Sugoi Dirt Series
The Dirt Series began in 2000 as a BC provincial development initiative, an effort both to bring more women into the sport and to fuel the passion of those already committed to it.
In the five years following, it has expanded from its Whistler base throughout BC and Alberta and into Washington, Oregon, Idaho and California. It has added in co-ed programs, combined with some incredible industry partners, and developed to a point where it presents between 15 and 20 camps annually.
Everywhere the program has gone, under the guidance of its founder and director Candace Shadley - former Provincial Mountain Bike Technical Director, longtime multi-sport instructor and coach - it has left a community of inspired mountain bikers in its wake. From those picking up mountain biking as a new outdoor sport, to those breaking through barriers after years of experience, the Sugoi Dirt Series has created a legacy of fun, support, energy, and success.
The Ingredients:
Coaches who love what they do. The staff includes not only an impressive set of sports achievement resumes, but also an exceptional ability to teach skills and inspire progress. A weekend format that balances structure with flexibility. Between the extensive skill sessions, the instructional rides, and the bike fit and maintenance seminars, riders of every level have the chance to learn, improve, and perfect their technique.
The best participants a program could ask for. Whether they are first timers looking for fundamentals or freeride rippers wanting to dial in advanced skills, the participants come to the camp eager to learn, excited to meet new people, and dedicated to supporting all others that come across their paths.
And fantastic sponsors. A quick look at the Dirt Series’ prices, and a few thoughts on the costs involved in running an elite level traveling program, make it quite clear that without their support, the series simply wouldn't be able to do things the way that they do.
The Sugoi Dirt Series coaching team combines a deep love of the sport with exceptionally responsive and flexible teaching skills. In the 2006 roster you'll find plenty of competitive accolades, decades of instructional experience and, most importantly, coaches with an unparalleled interest in helping you meet your riding goals.
