my week in pictures, and cows

How many bikes can you find in this picture? How many cows? Hint: the cows are very well hidden.

Eagle Rock at Alum Rock Park. I've been trying to spend more time climbing on my mountain bike.

Rewards for climbing!

Overlooking the valley, still trying to catch my breath from the climb up. Can you find the cows in this picture?

The best place in the world to practice manualing down steps.

Swimmies at the lake. Lots of fish and seaweed. Except it's in the lake. So is that lakeweed?

Judith and I post swimmies. I did not swim in my kneepads. I was heading to the bmx track next to the park.

The World Deaf Cycling Championship at Hellyer Park. Deaf cyclists from all over the world are here this week to compete in all kinds of cycling events, from road to mountain biking. People signing everywhere; on bikes, in the audience. It was a very cool thing to see. And they were excellent cyclists.

For obvious reasons they had people on the podium signing what was happening, and who was racing. What made it frustrating and a little amusing was that there was no announcer for the hearing crowd. We had no idea what was going on; no clue as to who was racing, what the results were or even what race they were doing. Still, I was glad I went. It was an interesting experience.

Other things to look forward to:
I have a mtb triathlon on Saturday in Lake Almaden, and it worked out that I'm going by myself. I'm not worried about the setting up part, it's just I frequently suffer from "post race stupidity", so I might be there for awhile afterwards staring out into space with my tri stuff scattered around me. I think I'm going to take 5 bucks and bribe some random stranger to cheer for me.

My wave starts at 8:15 am, Saturday morning. Again, why don't they start triathlon around 2 pm?

Well, you know I'd like to be there -- except I'm working for you so YOU can be there ;) What is up with this obsession about cows? Are you suffering from some kind "mad about cows" disease?

cows are funny. Not as funny as three frogs, a toad, and a crab, but still...

Love all your bikes. Our garage is starting to look like that too. Alex got a new Masi road bike. Mine is a Giant Cypress and is mainly road but with mtn bike style handlebars. It's like 4lbs lighter than my old one. I'm lovin' it!

Cows are cool!
