I'm not sure mountain biking and hunting mix.
Just exactly where would you store your rifle? In your camelback? And how would you get your game home? Draped over the front of your bike? Ew.
And I thought the whole point of mountain biking was to get out and enjoy nature. Not enjoy nature, then BAM, shoot it.
And yet, I was at a sports store today that was half bike shop, and half gun shop.
Probably should have turned around when I walked in and they had huge animal heads hanging from the wall. I suppose it could have been worse, considering it was a bike store too. They might have had human heads nailed up there. "Yep, that was my biking buddy Bob. We went for ride one day. "
I didn't stay long. It was all a little too disturbing; selling hunting knives next to the bike helmets, and camoflauge clothes next to the bike shorts.
Apparently though not disturbing enough for some people: Pedaling for Coyotes

And where was this shop?
On my NY trip last summer, I needed a mechanic and the closest one on that day was in Geneva. There's only one bike shop and it's about five miles out of town on Rte 5 (a big-ass freeway with a wide shoulder but vertical, wheel-suckin grates) -- not the best place to ride a bike.
Anyways, I ventured out there to Bob's Bikes, Bows, and Boards. Yup, a bike, hunting, and snowboard shop. Bob's is a two-man shop, in what appeared to be an old grocery store. I rode all the way through the store to the service counter in the back and met Bob and his assistant (also Bob), both wrenching on bikes with cigarettes hanging out of their mouths.
Not your typical California bike shop, eh?
i wouldn't have lasted 5 seconds in there....
Hey sweetie, your evil twin is back! I know you're off this weekend. Is this the Tahoe weekend? Anyway, swimmies Monday if you're in town?
hey you! No swimmies, unless it's in lake tahoe!
See you Thursday! :)
